Dying to Self Is Not Behavior Modification (Episode 2 of What Does It Mean to Die to Self Series)

October 5, 2021 by Aliene

How to Walk in the Freedom of the Holy Spirit

Behavior Modification always leads to frustration. For years I was so frustrated trying to fight my flesh. When I would fall into temptation, I felt defeated and condemned and pulled away from God. I doubled down on my efforts to “do better next time,” but my grit was never enough. Can you relate? But when I discovered that God’s grace is so much better than my grit, I began to experience lasting inner transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit. Listen to today’s podcast and discover how to walk in the freedom of the Holy Spirit.

Dying to Self Is Not Codependency (Episode 1 of What Does It Mean to Die to Self Podcast Series)

September 28, 2021 by Aliene

Letting Go of People-Pleasing to Live for God

AS a former codependent, I did a lot of dying to myself, but it was to live to please others, not God. And this misunderstanding about God’s concept of “dying to self” made me weary, angry, and sometimes really resentful. Ahhh, but God’s truth sets us free. Dying to self means taking back your free will from people and surrendering it to God to live for him. This is a BIG difference from people-pleasing. Listen to today’s podcast, say so long to your people-pleasing days, and surrender to God and thrive!

God’s Solution for Codependency

September 21, 2021 by Aliene

Codependency, most simply stated, is a lack of God dependency. Camouflaged under the radar of good works, serving others, and self-reliance, the codependent coping mechanism often goes undetected. I struggled with this issue for years, utterly unaware of codependency’s devastating impact, until God took me on a long journey to freedom. While I am not a licensed therapist, I have struggled with codependency and found God’s solution brought me freedom. Now, I want to share my journey to help others. Join me for our podcast today and discover more.

When the Enemy Steals Your Joy

September 14, 2021 by Aliene

Any gift God wants you to have, the enemy seeks to steal and this includes your joy. He uses shaming strategies to sabotage joy – especially when God leads us into a new season of blessing. But you don’t have to fall prey to his tactics. Recapturing joy is not found in trying to recreate a past season. Recapturing joy is not found by fixing your future. Recapturing joy comes with the Lord’s breakthrough in your present season. Want more? Join me for a podcast teaching on Psalm 143 and discover timeless biblical truths to recapture joy – in any season.

The Shema

September 7, 2021 by Aliene

Does your time in God’s word feel like it has become routine instead of wonderful? Understanding how Jewish disciples interacted with Rabbis and God’s Word during biblical times can refresh your study of God’s Word. Today my special guest author Lois Tverberg, shows us how a Jewish perspective brings inspirational insight to this divine discipline. Lois is the author of Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus, Reading the Bible with Rabbi Jesus, and co-author of Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus. Lois has a Ph. D in Biology and taught as a college professor before discovering her fascination with Jesus’ first-century Jewish world. She left a life in academia to devote herself full-time to teaching and writing on the topic, and now has been at it for twenty years. Want to discover more? Join us!

August 24, 2021 by Aliene

Have you ever noticed that once a negative thought or lie from the enemy enters your mind that you start speaking negatively? Well, this is because our thought-life directly impacts how we speak. What we believe about ourselves, about God, and others, will ultimately be what we speak. In this podcast episode, we are talking about how to take those lies and negative thoughts from the enemy captive.

Nourish Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:7-16

Life-Giving Words (Episode #9 of Shift Your Lips Series)

August 17, 2021 by Aliene

Our words have the power to build up or tear down, to speak life or to wound. God calls us to be quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:19). We must practice self-control when it comes to our tongue and the words we allow to roll off of it. In this week’s podcast, discover how you can refresh others through the power of speaking life-giving words to others.

Nourish Scripture: James 3:1-12
