Overcoming the Victim Mentality

October 11, 2022 by Aliene

Women’s Bible Study on Ruth

So often we are unaware of the victim perspective the enemy has created through the lies he tells us about our loss. Looking into our actions brings the awareness needed to change our perspective. The Lord can heal our perspective as we come to him to process the pain authentically. Today’s podcast is an audio teaching message from Naomi’s Next Chapter, a Treasured Tribe Bible Study on the Book of Ruth. Life After Loss

October 4, 2022 by Aliene

Women’s Bible Study on the Book of Ruth

When a family member decides to go outside of God’s design to meet a need, we can be left carrying the consequences of their choice. But loss is not the end of your story. Loss in this lifetime is impossible to prevent, but through God’s redeeming love, finding life after any loss is always possible. Today’s podcast is an audio teaching message from Naomi’s Next Chapter, a Treasured Tribe Bible Study on the Book of Ruth. What Is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? (Part 2)

September 20, 2022 by Aliene

With Pastor Bryan Hart

If you are confused about the Holy Spirit – you’re in good company. So were the Corinthians! This uncertainty is why Paul, under God’s influence, gave insight into this beautiful gift from God. Uncertainty about the Holy Spirit in the past made me avoid it altogether instead of drawing close. Pastor Bryan Hart joins me today for our podcast to discuss God’s greatest gift to us – the Holy Spirit, and why today more than ever, you need God’s help in your life to live and love as he intended.

Bryan Hart lives in Morehead City, North Carolina with his wife Kimberlee, and five children. He is a former US Marine and has served as One Harbor Church’s Executive Pastor since 2012. Bryan is studying for the Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

What Is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?(Part 1)

September 13, 2022 by Aliene

With Pastor Bryan Hart

Jesus said that he would not abandon us. He told us he would give us another advocate – the Holy Spirit. What good news for every believer to hear – we are not alone! Yet the Holy Spirit, God’s gift to us, is often a topic of controversy or confusion instead of comfort.

This summer, I heard one of the most refreshing, beautiful sermons on this topic, and I thought to myself – I want to share this message with my tribe! Pastor Bryan Hart was not only gracious enough to let me share his message for today’s podcast, but sat down to let me interview him on this topic, which I’ll share with you in next week’s episode.

Bryan Hart lives in Morehead City, North Carolina, with his wife Kimberlee, and five children. He is a former US Marine and has served as One Harbor Church’s Executive Pastor since 2012. Bryan is studying for the Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Enjoy!

What Does It Mean To Forgive? (Episode 10: Moving On)

August 23, 2022 by Aliene

How to Move Forward When a Relationship is Still Not Right

Guess what? All your relationships will not be neat and tidy – and that is ok. Taking all the steps to forgive someone does not guarantee a restored relationship. And that is also ok!

But for years, I felt like I needed a happy ending to experience life and peace. I allowed the state of my relationships to determine my worth and identity. I was constantly trying to fix and control things to avoid the message that messy relationships sent to my heart, with an internal narrative ‘there must be something wrong with you, Aliene.’ And often, I sacrificed my worth trusting in an offender who was never sorry – not because I was such a super spiritual Christian – but because I wanted so much to belong.

Are you tempted to offer premature reconciliation to stop rejection’s sting? Is a broken relationship holding you back from becoming all God has created you to be? Have you done your part to forgive, but it’s still messy?

YOU CAN’T FIX PEOPLE. IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON!

When our relationships are messy, we can feel messy, and shame shuts down our hearts from going confidently before the Lord and asking for the help we truly need. God’s remedy to remove shame so you can run to him, release the mess, and seek the Holy Spirit’s help to move forward, is receiving God’s forgiveness.

The happy ending your heart desires is not found in fixing others, but by forgiving others, and fixing your eyes on Jesus to move forward one beautiful bold, brave step of faith at a time. Listen to today’s podcast to discover how to let go and move on!

What Does It Mean To Forgive? (Episode Nine: Shalom)

August 16, 2022 by Aliene

What is Shalom?

God gave us free choice so that our love for him would not be given out of force by duty, but freely out of devotion. The gift of free choice also carried the reality that not everyone would choose God, resulting in sin. So while God gives us instructions on how to love others, we will still get hurt inside this broken world where evil exists. A person’s choice to sin not only hurts them, but it hurts others too.

We’ve all been wounded through choices that were not our own. And it is not fair when this happens.

How did you handle your wound? Did you shut your heart down? I’ve been there – how about you?

The reality is that storms of injustice will always exist inside of love’s free choice causing winds and waves of wounds that no one escapes. But the force of shalom that flows from God overrides the winds and waves of life so we can live and love as God intended.

Shalom is peace and wholeness from God.

Shalom means that injustice is never the end of your story and not the end of your heart! AMEN?!?

When our peace is full or overflowing, we can trust God to restore what may have been lost in the past and confidently move forward in the hope that we will have all we need for the future.

God has a new story he wants to write! In today’s podcast, discover how to receive God’s Shalom for your new beginning.
