Luke 1

She Becomes Brave

April 30, 2019 by Aliene

Abba Father, you take my broken heart and make it brave through the power of your Perfect Love. Give me courage as you call me out into the great expanse of your plan for my life.

I confess that sometimes I play it so safe that fear lodges in the center of my life instead of you. I want to know everything will work out before I step out.

I talk about the dream in my heart but don’t take actual steps into the purpose you have for me. But this is not faith!

Faith and actions walk hand and hand.

Today I choose to act.

You have not given me a spirit of fear! You have given me a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. You have set me free to follow you without fear.

(Pray God’s Word: Luke 1:72–75; 2 Timothy 1:7; Matthew 25:14–30; 1 John 4:18)

Benediction

July 30, 2018 by Aliene

She did it. She stood back up again. It happened slowly. One small step of faith at a time she conquered the rock-climbing wall of adversity she faced. She found a source of limitless strength and stability. By clinging to Jesus, she was able to climb.

Daily declaring His truth provided essential nourishment for her journey.

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)

Discover True Freedom through Jesus

Only by encountering Jesus and embracing his words through faith will we find true freedom. Finding your core identity and purpose is not about frantically striving to be someone; but surrendering to Jesus by allowing his Word to define who you are and the purpose for which you were created.

Jesus wants you to see yourself the way he sees you. When we receive his love for us, we find a freedom to give truly to others the way God intended.

As we close our Following Jesus Finding Life Weekly Word Series, allow His words to sow seeds of encouragement in your heart. Let this day and every day begin by declaring truth to nourish your heart. Print this and post where you can see and speak His truth. ONWARD!

Through Christ, I am a daughter of God Almighty. He has chosen me to be his child (John 1:12), ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20), and princess (Galatians 4:7; 1 Peter 2:9).

I am his treasure designed for a unique purpose (Deuteronomy 14:2; 1 Peter 2:9; Ephesians 2:10).

His love for me is unconditional and endless (John 3:16; 1 John 3:1; Ephesians 3:18), and his power is made perfect in all my weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9–10).

In Christ, I am completely accepted and in right standing with my Heavenly Father (Galatians 2:21; Ephesians 1:4–5). I praise you for your grace (Ephesians 1:7) and your favor (Psalm 5:12) that surround me. Thank you, God, for the treasure of your resurrection power living inside me (Ephesians 1:19–20; 2 Corinthians 4:7).

I worship you as my healer (Matthew 8:17), my restorer (Psalm 23:3), and my Dream Builder. You alone are God and you are good. You are for me (Romans 8:31), and I can overcome because Christ overcame (1 John 5:4). I am redeemed (1 Peter 1:18–19). I was created for your glory (Ephesians 2:10). I am a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Open my eyes wide to the plan, provision, and purpose you have for my life. I trust your love and surrender my steps, big and small, that Christ may live through me. I choose today to listen to your voice above all others. I am ready to cut new paths—blazing a trail for your glory, resting in your strength. Give me the courage to believe I am your treasure and give me the commitment to follow you so I can be an avenue of your love as I live for you alone. Amen.

Follow Jesus. Find life and live as God intended!

Extraordinary In His Eyes

December 11, 2017 by Aliene

Have you ever felt like God could not or did not see you? Like He has forgotten you and does not care about your circumstances?

Have you ever doubted God’s goodness?

Have you ever questioned God’s love for you?

I have. When we are in the midst of difficult circumstances the enemy loves to whisper doubts about our God’s goodness, power, love, and the truth of His Word in order to strike fear into our hearts.

Believing God’s Promises

In Genesis 22:18 God promised Abraham that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through his offspring. In Isaiah 9:6-7 the prophecy is made that a child will be born. A child that will reign on David’s throne from that time on and forever.

Hundreds of years later David’s throne sits empty and Abraham’s descendants are being ruled by the Roman government. I am sure God’s people wondered if He had forgotten His promises.

In Luke 1:46-47 we find Mary full of joy and anticipation. She cannot contain it. It flows out of her in the form of praise to the Lord.

“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.

How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
For he took notice of his lowly servant girl,
and from now on all generations will call me blessed.

For the Mighty One is holy,
and he has done great things for me.

Mary realizes that God has not only been mindful of her but has done great things for her and from then on all generations would call her blessed. The time had come at last. God was keeping His promise to show mercy to His people through Jesus, who would be born to Mary.

He has helped his servant Israel
and remembered to be merciful.

For he made this promise to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children forever.”

In Mary’s Song of Praise we can take encouragement. Just as God was mindful of Mary and remembered to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants He is mindful of you and I. Listen to Jesus’ words in Luke 12:6-7

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Look for the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

If God even knows the number of hairs on our heads we can be assured that we have value to Him and He is attentive to every detail of our lives.

He sees us.

He will bring deliverance to us.

He will care for us in this life, but ultimately as believers we can count on spending eternity with Him.

An answer to a long prayed prayer, the prodigal that returns to the Lord, provision for that need, comfort in our sadness, relief, and rest are just a very few examples of God’s extraordinary mercy and deliverance we receive daily in this life.

Pay attention to God’s eternal extraordinary by looking for the mercy and deliverance of God in the ordinary circumstances of your own life.

When you see them, like Mary, you will be a spring bubbling over with joy flowing out of you in the form of a magnificent song of praise to the Lord.
