Back to Course: 21-Day Challenge

Day 4

Instructor: Aliene Thompson

Class Notes

In this information age, we live in a world filled with distractions that can disrupt even the most determined efforts to spend daily time with God.

Can I get an AMEN?

While we can’t change our world, we can change our environment. In today’s video, discover how to create your own “Bethel” right inside your home and find solitude for your soul, despite distractions.

Today’s Assignment

Get excited! Begin a three-day assignment of creating your Bethel. Before you begin, remember to seek Jesus, the Lord of your Sabbath, in prayer for wisdom and direction. Today you will do three things:

  1. Decide where your Bethel will be inside your home.
  2. Declutter that space.
  3. Dedicate your Bethel by praying over your space.

Today’s Connect Question

Where did you decide to create your Bethel? Share where and why you chose that spot in the comments section below.

Day 3

My Bethel ( House of God) is my bedroom bed. I have my Two pages both sides of scriptures I memorized to speak out loud in the morning and Psalm 91 prayer to read with names of God. Worship Praise and thank God for the Day’s activities, for God’s anointing to be with me to exercise, drive safely, eating correctly in one day meal and completing my one Bible Study and treasured ministries 21 challenge daily and getting to bed early for restful sleep.

Sandy the lamp is my favorite because it is the only floor lamp in my home. It was one of the very first “nice” things my husband and I bought for our first home.

My designated room for study is my living room, but I love the idea of having a War Room. I will need to figure that room out.
No matter my circumstances that I’m placed in … hurts, rejections, abondaments, lies about me, etc., I KNOW God is with me, that My Redeemer lives and thru experiences, God’s truth always prevails- that’s the beauty of the Lord and the Devine Re͏w͏a͏rd!
I’m very guilty of being in social media. I’ve just learned about my bio family (I’m adopted) and it’s been a delight to get to know them on social media. I’m also hooked on other social media to educate myself. I need to limit my use and focus (make a habit) more on my Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, Liv the Lord has recently given me this verse in my struggle against hurt and rejection. It goes right along with what you said…. Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

I have three places the Lord has shown me I’ve used from time to time to be with Him and I prayed today o see which I should aim for and do not have a clear answer yet but will wait upon Him to show me. Yes! I am blessed to have three special places-the dining room table, the couch in upstairs living room (no TV here – TV is in downstairs family room) -, and office space just for me. Hopefully I will have a clearer answer soon! In my mind, I see decorations in each one and I have anointing oil(Kings oil thru Curt Landry ministries based on recipe in Exodus 30)! Ready to hear and do! Yay!!!! Ready to go…

I have a little place in a corner that I love sitting in my recliner that I dedicated and prayed over for my Bethel.
I love my room and I also have two chiming clocks in there and I can here the birds outside when I get to do my study in the mornings. I have a defuser in there as well that I love that is lighted

I have two locations for my Bethel. The first is in my bed. I have a bedside table that has quiet lighting and I have all of my materials with me. I love being comfortable and it is a quiet spot in the morning. I also know that if I do not have my time with the Lord before I leave my bedroom in the morning, it usually is not going to happen because I get distracted with other things that need to be done around the house and work in my office. However, speaking in my office, that is my second Bethel. It is very beautiful, bright, calming and exactly how I want it. It is the place where I go for meditation. I love listening to guided meditations and also meditating on God‘s word in there.

Day 4: my closet has always been my quiet time space. Ironically that is one place I usually never bothered. (With three young kids that is quite a feat!). My clothes are in there but there are not really distractions from my daily responsibilities. However I was very convicted today when Aliene talked about praying over the space. For me that practice took my special closet space to an entirely different level.

Day 4: My space is my computer desk area. It has my lap top(to watch videos), my Nourish notebook, Bible pens and of course my coffee in the early 1-3 am’s.. (depending on sleep patters). Someday I hope to have a little room!!!
I had a SUPER cruddy day at work yesterday, and I am thank full for the scripture Lam. 3:23, I needed that!!!

Although my office is a work space, I have created it as a peaceful place for me. My bethel will be at my office desk at home. I can watch the videos on the computer and then I move my computer aside and focus on my studies. I need to de-clutter it a bit. This is a room that I can close the door and have complete space to myself during my time with the Word.
