Glorify God by Aligning Your Heart with His and Believing His Promises
Declare His Truth. Rest in His Promises. Heal Your Heart.
Imperfect people can wound our hearts. We can unknowingly be placed in circumstances or make choices that hurt our souls. But there is always freedom when we glorify God and align our hearts with his. When we begin to shift our perspective and set our minds on things above, God's promises come into focus as they rest on the horizon of our lives.
They shine like a beacon of light in the dark seas of our wounded souls. Those dark seas can roar when we've experienced the pain of hurtful words that have been spoken over us.
There is hope and a promise that we will overcome! God's perfect love is eternal and will fill us with new wine when we open our minds and hearts to his healing words. Those deep, rough waters in our souls begin to calm. Just as Jesus has the power to calm the storm around us, he also has the authority to calm the storm within us.
We Glorify God When We Believe the Calming Words of Jesus
"The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, 'Lord, save us! We're going to drown!' Jesus responded, 'Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!' Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was great calm. The disciples were amazed. 'Who is this man?' they asked. 'Even the winds and waves obey him!'" -Matthew 8:25-27
Confidence Comes When You Glorify God
If you've been torn down by the words of others, believing God's word can be a challenge.
- How can I know God hears my cry? "But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears." - Psalm 18:6
- How can I be certain that God will restore, redeem, and rebuild what seems to be broken within me? "Instead of shame and dishonor, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours." - Isaiah 61:7
Treasured One, aligning your heart with the Word and choosing to glorify God is not always an easy habit to create. You need a daily reference of restoration to remind you of the nourishment that he continually provides.
The Problem We All Face When We Want to Glorify God
Imagine this: You enter a situation at work, or with a family member, that stirs up hurts from your past. You feel the pain and understand that it can be overcome with God's Word, yet you are caught off guard by it. You don't have a real way to process how you feel in the moment or cut off the lie from where the pain started.
This makes you feel trapped, as if you have no choice but to surrender to the pain. The enemy of your soul wants you to believe you can't access the spiritual gift of self-control or walk in victory. Satan wants you to react to the past pain rather than respond in ways that would glorify God.
You wonder if you will ever be able to overcome the patterns of your past and align your heart with Jesus'.
Treasured One, we say no more! You shouldn't have to feel trapped by the enemy's lies and hurts from your past, because God has words that he has selected to speak to your heart in times such as these- no matter what stage or season you are in.
He wants to meet you right where you are. To do that, let's ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the lies that have been spoken to us by imperfect people and through broken circumstances. Then we can pray God's promises that specifically heal those broken places.
